027 그러나 정치철학의 필요성은 언제나 존재하며[있으며], 특히 그 시대의 관습적 지혜[생활의 지혜]로는 제대로 대처할 수 없는 새로운 정치적 도전에 직면할 때 더 필요할 것이다. 
011 But the need for political philosophy is always there, especially perhaps at moments when we face new political challenges that we cannot deal with using the conventional wisdom of the day.   

027 그런 때에 우리는 우리의 정치적 믿음의 토대를 조사하기[탐색하기] 위해 더 깊이 파고들 필요가 있다. 그리고 바로 거기에서 우리는 정치철학으로 향할 수 있겠지만, 아마도 그 정치철학은 원전 자체가 아니라 팸플릿이나 잡지, 신문 등을 통해 걸러진 것들일 것이다. 성공한 정치철학자는 모두 미디어 친화적인 제자들 덕분에 자신의 생각들을 유포시킬 수 있었다. 
011 At these moments we need to dig deeper, to probe the basis of our political beliefs, and it is here that we may turn to political philosophy, not perhaps at source, but as filtered through pamphlets, magazines, newspapers and the like - every successful political philosopher has relied on media-friendly disciples to put his or her ideas into circulation. 


027 그러나 정치철학이 참된 필요에 부응한다고[답을 한다고] 하더라도, 그 자체의 자격은 참된가[진짜인가]? (오늘의 운세는 강렬하게 느껴지는 필요에 부응한다[답을 준다] - 사람들은 자신의 미래가 어떻게 될지 알고 싶어한다[사람들은 미래가 자신들을 위해서 마련해준 어떤 행운이 무엇인지를 알고싶어 한다]. 그러나 대다수는 오늘의 운세 자체가 완전히 가짜라고 생각한다.) 
011 But even if political philosophy answers to a genuine need, are its own credentials genuine? (Horoscopes answer to a strongly felt need - people want to know what the future holds in store for them but most of us think that horoscopes themselves are completely bogus.) 


027 왜냐하면 정치철학은 정치에 관 한 일종의 진리, 즉 그날그날 우리를 안내하는 의견들과는 다른 어떤 것을 가져다줄 수 있다고 주장하기 때문이다. 
011 For political philosophy claims that it can bring to us a kind of truth about politics, something different from the opinions that guide us from day to day.
